What you're about to read doesn't really give this film justice, But i'll try anyways. This is one of the best science-fiction films ever made period. I got to see it in 3D and because of this I sat mesmerized by the scenery and you learn to appreciate the amount of detail the filmmakers put in this film. And there is a possibility that you will cry at this film, And obviously since this is Science Fiction there is a lot of CG. Not that it's a bad thing but it really gives the planet "Pandora" It's own atmosphere with these living creatures called the Na'vi, the amount of detail is insane, at moments you'll completely forget that the whole planet is CG and there are about 300 shots of them in the film.
Now the story takes place in the year 2154 and follows a soldier named Jake who had an accident and can't walk as the result. Who had his twin brother pass away in the beginning of the film and because of that he can control his Avatar. What are Avatars? On Pandora humans can't breathe the air but in order to move around Pandora unhibited, scientists would fuse human DNA and Na'vi DNA to create what they call Avatars which look very similar to the Na'vi and they are remotely controlled by the genetically matched human. The reason why they are on Pandora is because of a element called "unobtanium" which sells for $20 Million a kilo on Earth. The Na'vi worship a mother goddess called Eywa and every living thing on their planet is cherished in their land. They don't kill anything basically, as Neytiri says "we're all just borrowing energy and one day we have to give it back." or something like that, I'll update when I watch it a second time.
As the same for Transformers 2, the critics aren't too kind of this film because they just look at the story. Although it is similar to Fergully and Pocahontas, what makes it great is the way it tells it's story and the admirable landscapes that makes up Pandora. Avatar is one of the greatest in my memory. It gains momentum until it reaches it's very epic finale. I'm trying to avoid any spoilers so I'll just finish by saying "GO SEE THIS MOVIE", It's gorgeous, has a simple story with an anti-war message and I'll wholeheartedly recommend this film guaranteeing you a ride of your life.
